On May 23, 2008, the Town of Bridgewater hosted a "Support Our Troops Red Rally" at the Bridgewater Exhibition Grounds.

Despite poor weather, more than 1,000 people joined Gen. Rick Hillier, Canada's chief of defence staff, and Defence Minister Peter MacKay in Bridgewater to show their support for the troops and the work they do.
