July 20, 2010
![]() Mayor John Leefe and MP Gerald Keddy are all smiles after cutting the ribbon for the official opening of the new Liverpool Visitor Information Centre. Liverpool (NS) – The newly-constructed Liverpool Visitor Information Centre officially opened its doors today, thanks to the Community Adjustment Fund, a key economic stimulus initiative contained in the Government of Canada痴 Economic Action Plan. “Our Government is proud to have invested $200,815 in this valuable project,” said Gerald Keddy, Member of Parliament for South Shore-St. Margaret’s. “Through investments like this, the Government of Canada is supporting local jobs and building infrastructure that will benefit our communities for years to come.” In addition to the construction of a new Visitor Information Centre, the investment supported improvements to the surrounding waterfront infrastructure, including safer, more attractive walkways, upgraded parking facilities and increased accessibility for recreational vehicles. “The new Visitor Information Centre will increase our ability to draw tourists to Liverpool and area,” said John G. Leefe, Mayor of the Region of Queens Municipality. “It will enhance economic development opportunities for the Region of Queens as a whole.” This project is just one example of how the Government of Canada, through Canada’s Economic Action Plan, is providing timely, targeted stimulus to communities across the region. Since taking office in February 2006, the Government of Canada, through the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency, has announced investments totalling nearly $312 million in more than 520 projects throughout Nova Scotia.
